The Perry County Literacy Council (PCLC) is actively engaged in the 17th Annual “Race for Reading”.  The PCLC conducts a multi-faceted campaign in an effort to maximize community 
awareness of the programs offered and to solicit support from the community at large.  The first facet of our 2011“Race for Reading” event is being conducted in the elementary schools 
across Perry County in an effort to promote reading and literacy among our youth.  This year the race again challenged third and fourth grade students to read as many books as possible for 
two weeks! Local businesses provided prizes for the children who participated in this program.
